Teaching Philosophy
I view learning music as an incredible journey that enriches every aspect of your life. I give my students a well-rounded balance of mastering technique, developing creativity, understanding theory, and nurturing inner expression. Let's not forget having fun, either!
As a part of developing healthy, expressive technique, I incorporate my studies of the Alexander Technique to cultivate healthy posture, free movement, and prevent injury.
For young students, I believe in nurturing the child’s inner creativity while giving a solid foundation in classical theory and technique so the student can soar in any direction they choose, be it a heading for a college conservatory or just having fun playing at home. Most importantly, we use music as a vehicle for developing universal values like patience, creativity, self-expression, self-discipline, and work ethic. I begin piano students at age 4.
For adult students, you set your own goals and we stick to them. I create an individualized curriculum catered to each student, focusing on the styles of your choice.
